Start saving today by using coupons for groceries. You can save quite a bit of money if you take the time to use coupons. It doesn't take as much time as you're probably thinking. You can do this while your watching television. You can do this while drinking your morning coffee. Many people spend endless hours watching T.V. take this time to get your free coupons!

There are many to choose from. You will find many coupons you want to use on these sites. They are totally free. Browse through the coupons they are offering. Always check back because new coupons are always added. Pick out the coupons that you are needing and when you are finished all you need to do is print them out. That's a pretty simple way of getting coupons.

You can also go to a coupon clipping service. These websites are also a great way to get free coupons. They offer multiple coupons. You can get ten even twenty coupons of one product. This will help you get stocked up on that item when they go on sale. There is a small handling fee. The handling fee is very little compared to the value of the coupons. Go through all the coupons you want to get. When you have decided what coupons you have selected just check out. Your coupons will come to your home already cut out and ready to redeem. That's about as easy as it gets. They do the work and you get all the savings.

The Sunday paper is always great for free coupons. The coupon inserts on Sundays are great. You can save hundreds of dollars with these coupons. If you see there are a lot of coupons in that week's paper you may want to go purchase a couple more papers for extra savings. I was talking to some friends the other day about stuff in general and we got 'round to the topic of coupons and couponing. Then, right out of the blue, I friend of mine came out with this. And I had to admit, to an extent, he was right. The general perception seems to be that couponing isn't sexy!

Now I'll admit that the extreme couponing people, who do save a huge amount of money, are fairly odd. I suspect that this has a lot to do with their obsession (which is essentially what it is) about saving money.

That said, there's always going to be a group of people who'll be sure to take things to an extreme. If we randomly grabbed a group of people off the street and asked them their opinions on any given subject, you'll get a range of answers. The majority of them will be somewhere in the middle (stands to reason, right). 

But on the edges of this group, you'll have the extremists. I don't use this word in a political sense, but simply to describe their opinion of the subject. 

In our case of the couponers, the people that you see on the extreme couponing represent the extreme edge of the couponing world. There's nothing inherently bad about this - there are much worse things to be obsessed about!

Just a few words for the people who are reading this and have been hiding under a rock for a number of years. These extreme couponing shows follow an individual (or family) as they shop in their local supermarket.

Nothing very unusual about this though. We all have to do this, unless we use an online delivery service (but that's a different matter). What is unusal in the volume of food and stuff that they purchase.

To start with, they arrive in a pretty large vehicle, cos there's going to a LOT to take home!

They generally buy what you and would, except in bulk!

And when I say bulk I'm talking about 10-20 boxes of every single item on their shopping list!

These shows can be worth watching simply for the whole check-out process! The unfortunate check out man or woman will take hours checking the items the extreme couponer has bought. In fact, I've seen a handful of episodes where the scanning device has stopped working and they've been forced to start all over again!! For some reason, I guess there's a limit of the number of items that can be scanned in during one transaction? I guess that the companies making the scanners didn't plan on the extreme couponers!

Anyway, by the very end of this process, you would expect their shopping cost would be extremely high.

The checkout person now must scan each of these grocery coupons in! Slowly, we see the balance start to come down and down.  Once the coupons have been scanned in, the grocery shopping bill comes out to at the most a couple dollars!

As a part of the show we actually get to see just how much effort and coordination goes into organizing and gathering up coupons. The extreme couponer and their family are seen cutting coupons for hours. In some shows, the families have been filmed clipping coupons around the dining table!

"The family that clips together, stays together!"

The younger family members are also put to work preparation coupons, whether they want to or not!

In all seriousness, the time and effort required to save this sum of money is massive! This is where we see the extremist nature of the couponer. They'll spend hours clipping, collecting, arranging these coupons.

Which rather leads me to another question, namely - what if you want to save on your grocery budget, but don't actually have the time to waste a few hours clipping and organizing coupons? There has to be a way for "ordinary folk" or the ordinary, average that we mentioned above, to save money with out the papercuts!

There has to be a better way!

And these days, there is. Have you heard of a coupon clipping service? These are websites that are willing to doing all the "heavy couponing" for you. There are dedicated people out there willing to clip, organise and collect coupons for you. They have the bruised knuckles and papercuts to prove it!

In essence, there's no need to waste hours clipping coupons, these types of services do it for you!

So how do these services work?

With modern technology, it's all pretty simple. You register on their site and select the coupons you need for your next gentle stroll (!) through the supermarket! They'll mail them to you and off you go!

Even better, there are other sites which work in a similiar manner. These are the "new wave" type of coupon clipping service, and I'm sure you have come across some of these before.

These web sites will allow you to print your coupons in order that you don't have to have your coupons mailed to you.

Keep in mind, you will have the inconvenience of picking all of your coupons on the website and then printing them all out, praying that you have got just enough ink left in that battered old printer, never mind the quick dash to Staples beforehand!

Either way, most of the people who collect grocery coupons are likely to save 20 to 50% off of their grocery bill. Which, frankly is a heck of a lot, especially as it really doesn't take a lot of time to do!

Can you really save money on your groceries by clipping coupons?

These days, the economy seems to be gently sliding downwards. Actually, this is a huge understandment (in my opinion) - the economy is hurtling downwards!

As a result, people are looking to "tighten their belts" to "weather the storm"! In essence, the majority of people are looking at ways that they can cut down on their expenses.

Out go the expensive cell phone plans, the 300 gazillion TV channels (which always seems to push the cable bill through the roof) and all the other luxuries. Cut, cut, cut until you cannot cut anymore!

There are expenses that you really cannot avoid. Here I'm thinking of your rent/mortgage (unless the idea of living under a bridge REALLY appeals to you!), gas, blah blah and your food bill. Well, I'm sure you could try and not eat, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Given that we have to eat, it makes sense that we can (and should) look to see how we can trim this without too much pain (i.e. not having to eat dehydrated noodles every day). In fact, your favorite food makers are falling over themselves to encourage you to try their tasty preparations, by offering discounts on their food (in the form of coupons). It would be rude to not take them up on their offer, right?

So, how do we get hold of these coupons?

Well, lots of different ways! Your local sunday paper is an excellent source of these delightful little gifts. In fact, a number of newspapers are stuffed full of them. So much so in fact, that they are often heavier than the paper you've just bought!

Another great source is your local supermarket themselves. A lot of them offer loyalty schemes. By joining up to their scheme, you collect points as you shop, which can be turned into coupons (or discounts) at the end of the month.

There are also a number of sources online. Websites such as Smart Source and Redplum are excellent places where you can sign up and print off coupons. Far easier to do that than hunting for newspapers, in my opinion.

Other online source are a number of coupon toolbars that are browser addons. These will alert you to available coupons online, and download them to your desktop. A quick search with your local search engine should bring you some decent results (or you can swing by my website, where I have collected some for you!).

Then, of course, there is the coupon clipping service. You've heard of these, right? These sites do all of the "heavy couponing" for you. You find a coupon clipping service that you'd like to test out. You register and then pick the coupons that you'd like to have. You pay for the coupons (a nominal charge to cover the cost of someone else getting paper cuts and "running with scissors" insurance!) and the service will mail the coupons to you a few days later.

I've been using a coupon clipping service for some time now (in fact, my site will be offering reviews of a number of the bigger coupon clipping services) and find that they can be an excellent way to save money on my groceries, with minimal effort on my part. What really appeals to me is that fact that a number of coupon clipping services have coupons that aren't going to available in your local area.
